Janco Complete Guide to Health and Safety

Managing health and safety in today's world can be complex and full of pitfalls.  The cost and consequences of non-compliance is increasing.  The Janco guide covers virtually all the aspects confronted by UK industry.

The objective of the guide is to,
a) state the UK legal requirements
b) provide an understanding of the issues
c) provide a means of compliance

It's full of practical guidance, information and instruction on a multitude of Directives and Regulations which directly affect your UK business operation. Although this product is constructed around the legislative requirements of Health and Safety in the UK, professionals outside of the UK find it an invaluable asset in determining standards.

Subjects covered include,
Safety Audit, Lists of Regulations and Standards, Registration, Insurance, Employee Information, Safety Policy, Fire, First Aid, Riddor, Risk Assessment, COSHH, Noise, Vibration, VDU, Manual Handling, Work Equipment, Workplace, Personal Protection Equipment, Signs and Labels, Machinery, Electro-magnetic compatibility, Young persons, Transport, Site work (construction), Working at Height, Food hygiene, Waste, Electricity, Asbestos, Lead, Pressure systems, Lighting, Crush injury, Heat and Burns, Lifting equipment, Legionellosis, Ergonomics, Smoking, Pregnancy, Stress, Mobile phones and MORE.

Each subject is taken in its own right and presented to give the information required for practical use and access by your business. The format is designed to be factual without wordy descriptions (to the point), although the document is, at present, approx 0.6 million words.  Assessment forms are included where appropriate, with examples.

A failing with many software packages tends to be accessibility and usability.  This package does not use bespoke software to "hide" the details.  You openly use your own software, so there's normally no need to train or accustomise.  You can use the guide as a reference manual, but it comes to the fore when producing your own documentation.  The guide is really user-friendly, allowing direct copying of sample documents, forms etc to enable production of your own documentation. It's amazingly FAST and COST EFFICIENT.

Using Microsoft Word for Windows, the guide allows really fast access to your point of interest.  Use all the normal Microsoft tools. The format enables direct, continuous searching (with the "find" tool) through all subjects giving cross referencing.   Need an assessment form, block copy (complete with guidance) from the guide and you've got it.

The Guide is supplied on CD-Rom.

Updating the guide
Our charge for the guide is a "one-off" charge - not an annual subscription.  The guide is regularly updated as new Regulations appear and old regulations are revised.  Even though the overall legislative background is perpetually on the change, the fundamentals for most businesses change at a much slower rate.

If you wish, you can keep your copy of the Guide updated (there is no obligation).
You can do this in two ways.
(1) When significant sections are added or reviewed, we can inform you and you can choose to revise accordingly.
(2) You can opt to purchase a revised copy every 6 or 12 months.

These services are very low cost (nominal).

Comments
"Our Health and Safety documentation was minimal and not very good.  We produced a complete Safety Policy on the same day as we received the guide in the post.  It was so easy."

"We had a database system for listing our risk assessments.  It had been difficult to produce, was not easy to update and was only accessible in my office.  We were amazed that, using the format in the Janco guide, we could put the assessments for all four of our sites onto a single (and very simple) document.  We've put it on our intranet now, so that all of our terminals can access it.  That's a real improvement because, when incidents occur now, everyone's referring to the assessment.  It's getting people, the right people, involved".
